Welcome to Joe's video arcade game world

(With a heavy dose of all things Missile Command)

This subject of this site is arcade games, particularily video arcade games. When I use the term "arcade game", I am speaking of a large coin operated machines. The kind of machine you'd see in a bar or an arcade (like Pac Man or Space Invaders or a pinball machine). I am not referring to console games, which are games that hook up to your TV (Atari 2600, Play Station, XBOX, etc.), nor am I speaking of handheld games (GameBoy, etc.).

Among the arcade games mentioned are:

-Video arcade games which are machines that have a video screen/monitor in them.

-Pinball machines which (unless you go back to the very old ones) are the games with flippers and you're trying to keep a steel ball in play.

-"Other", which basically is any coin operated game that does not fall into the video game or pinball game definition. These games are frequently called "E&M" games. The "E&M" stands for "electro & mechanical". They don't have a monitor and are not pinball games. Typical examples are skeeball, and a hockey puck bowling game. However there are games that fit into this category that are not E&M, hence the generic term, "other".
